Big Things are a Coming...
Hi, it's Saturday.
I don't normally post on Saturday's but I just had to share a few things.
#1. Sorry to disappoint, but that "Big Thing's are a Coming..." does not mean I am pregnant. Though it seems every other blogger out there is lately, huh?
#2. This chick's sprucing stuff up around here. Look for a new blog design in the coming week, by a little Godsend named Alyx. Check her out, she's the bomb.
And finally,
#3. I finally jumped on the bandwagon and got instagram. {Now if I could only figure out how to upload a profile pic, that would be fantastic, so tech savvy I am.} You can follow me @ katie_mydarlingdays, and I promise riveting photos of my oh so mediocre fabulous life... such as this:
{this would be a chocolate malt, an All You magazine, and Grandma's afghan... a perfect night.}
Toodles friends. Have yourself a merry little weekend!

Omaha, Part 2
*Please don't forget to enter my giveaway for a $30 shop credit to FashiontoFigure!
Annddd welcome to Brianna and Katie Day, which consisted of coffeeing, thrifting, & site-seeing.
Bright and early... okay, 9:00 AM. B took me to Blue Line Coffee Shop and we had a nice little brew while driving around the quaint town of Dundee.
Then, we stopped at Great Harvest Bread Co. and had a slice of the most delicious cinnamon raisin bread your taste buds will ever experience.
Next up, Gerald Ford's Birth place, and his darling rose garden {too early in the year for roses though, shucks}
Bri being super classy, per usual.
After that, my Aunt made a scrumptious brunch... mimosa's anyone?? Don't mind if I do!
Then we headed downtown and did some Antique shopping.
We perused some candy...
And by this time, we were thirsty and consequently hungry too {there's a shocker!}. So we ordered mozz sticks from Old Chicago to go and ate them at Brianna's favorite pub on Earth, Dubliner Pub.
After that, she took me to Ulta and I got my very first bareMinerals kit. It's pretty much heaven! {more on that in a later post}
Then, we went back to her house and she dolled me up for dinner and a night on the town.
We dinned at a great Mexican restaurant, La Mesa, in which we ordered entirely too much food and my husband acted like a two year old. But, it was sooo tasty!
After dinner, we went to The Waiting Room Lounge, and listened to two really good live bands.
Good Foot and Satchel Grande --> Youtube them.
Finally, we had lofty plans of getting midnight sushi, {I'm a sushi virgin you know...} but after our long day and night... we were home, faces washed, glasses on, and falling asleep on the couch watching a movie by 1:00 am.
Good times.

What I Wore: Tweed with a side of Mustard.
"Hi and welcome to Katie's Closet, may take your order?"
"Yeah, uhhh... I'll take a tweed wide-leg trouser pant with a side of mustard embellished tank and a skinny belt. Hold the bracelets please."
So, there's no denying it. I love me some tweed. Tweed skirts {in tan and in red}, tweed pants {in this post}, and tweed blazers {still gotta get my paws on one though}
You know what else I love? That it's finally starting to look like spring up in here.
Blue skies. Green grass.
It could be slightly warmer, but eh... I won't complain.

Cardi--> Kohls
Tank--> NY&Co
Ring--> Avon
Shoes--> Famous Footwear
Earrings {that you can't even see :( }--> Made by me
Happy tweed, and spring :)

DIY: Crayon Letter
These crayon letters are floating all around Pinterest and I thought it'd be nice to make one for my niece Elena.
All you need are some crayons, paper, a ruler, and E6000 glue.
First, I picked out the crayons that I liked and laid out a letter E.
Then I started gluing and placing.
{Tip: Kind-of a no-brainer, but store your E6000 glue upright so it doesn't continue to squirt out and make a mess everywhere... this chick learned the hard way!}
I let my letter dry over night.
Then I threw a frame around it and called it good.

Omaha, Part 1
Finally getting around to sharing about our trip to Omaha earlier this April.
We went to visit family {my aunt & uncle and their kids -- who now have kids of their own} and catch up. It was soo good to see them and the sites around Omaha.
Our first night was mellow, after a day of traveling we were rather tired.
We took my grandma with us too... she enjoyed smooching up her great grandkids :)
Mr. Eli... an active, but adorable little feller.
Ms. Gwen... a sweetie pie
Omaha was in full bloom, it was gorgeous!
My new side kick :)
Cousin Brianna/Best Friend <3
Our first day there, we went to the world famous Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium... a must see!
Unfortunately, we didn't have time to see everything, but what we did see was phenomenal.
After the zoo, we went back to my cousin Brianna's house and we had pizza, beer, and a bonfire, it was a perfect day/night.
{Naturally, I took about 500 pictures so I am pulling my favorites and putting them in 3 separate posts.}
Stay tuned for more :)
